We woke to a bitterly cold truck, and both Christo and I commented on the fact that we’d sleep much warmer tonight–in Mexico!
We drove into Flagstaff to pick up a few things and stopped for coffee and breakfast burritos at Late for the Train. Delicious!
We drove through Phoenix and Tucson, and spent the night just north of the Mexican border at a little ‘campsite’ off a dirt road in the Coronado National Forest. It felt kinda sketchy since we drove past signs that said something to the effect of ‘smuggling and other illegal activities may be taking place in this area,’ and US Border Patrol vehicles were parked strategically behind trees and in little pullouts on the sides of the road. We fed the dogs, ourselves, Christo played a little guitar, and then we crawled into the back of the truck to sleep.
